Curiosity. Creativity. Confidence.

Lower School Learning

Everywhere you look, children are learning. Playgrounds are places to see smiles, hear laughter, and see the day-to-day problem solving skills developing among our children. Most importantly, children are embracing a love for learning, gaining respect for each other and the world they share, and acquiring the academic skills to continue their journey of lifelong learning.

Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten children continue to benefit from the natural resources on campus as they observe, experiment, and discover the world around them. Math comes alive daily in Kindergarten! Children work to incorporate math into their daily life and enjoy spending time with “Zero The Hero,” who helps them understand place value.

First Graders are exploring the arts in class, after their visit to an Artist’s Studio and Grounds for Sculpture. Second Graders are busy preparing for their After-School Science Workshop, designed to bring parents and children together to explore scientific inquiry.

Third Graders are beginning to practice square dancing as they prepare for their Pioneer Day celebration, integrating their reading of the book, Little House In The Big Woods across many areas of their curriculum. Fourth Graders are beginning their one-on-one immigrant interviews as they prepare for their Ethnic Pride Festival.

Fifth Graders are working endlessly to improve the rockets they made during STEAM class, and learning that working together as a team through perseverance, by trying new methods and ideas, is key to the success of this program.
