Admission Process
Rutgers Prep operates on a rolling admission basis. Candidates should file their application early in the year in order to be given full consideration for the upcoming academic year. Candidates who have completed the admission process will be notified by the Admission Office as early as mid-February. Please note that a candidate's file for admission cannot be reviewed by the Admission Committee until all the neccessary steps are complete.

The Application Form and other required forms should be completed and returned as soon as possible to the Admission Office, along with a non-refundable application fee of $75. All International Students, please apply online.

Interview and Campus Visit
Schedule an appointment with the Admission Office for an interview. Contact the Admission Office at (732) 545-5600 ext. 261. After the visit, candidates for second grade and above will schedule a future date to spend the day at Rutgers Prep. The prospective student will be hosted by a Rutgers Prep student in their current grade level. Candidates for the ninth grade will spend half a day with another eighth grade student and half of the day with a ninth grade student.

Testing
· Pre-Kindergarten, Junior and Kindergarten
Children participate in small group Gesell evaluations at scheduled times beginning in January of each year.

· 1st Grade
First grade applicants take an individual Gesell evaluation during the course of their morning visit in a Kindergarten classroom. These visits are scheduled in January of each year.

· 2nd through 5th Grade
IOWA Standardized testing is required and administered at Rutgers Prep. If the applicant has taken IOWA tests within the current academic year, please submit these scores to determine if further testing is necessary.

· 6th through 12th Grade
The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is required. Rutgers Prep administers this test seven times during the school year. The testing fee is submitted directly to SSAT. The SSAT booklet and registration materials are available through the Admission Office, or by contacting the SSAT directly at (609) 683-4440, or visit their website at www.ssat.org.The testing dates for SSAT are as follows:

Teacher Recommendations
For PK through Grade 4, one recommendation from the primary teacher is required. For Grades 5-12, we require recommendations from at least two teachers; one from a math teacher; the other from an English or history teacher. Teacher recommendation forms are enclosed with the application packet and you may contact the Admission Office to receive additional forms.

Transcript Request Form (enclosed with application packet)
A signed Transcript Request Form needs to be sent to your child's current school so that a complete transcript of your child's grades and test scores may be released and sent directly to our Admission Office.

Enrollment Procedure
Once a student has been offered admission to Rutgers Prep, parents will be sent a formal acceptance letter, along with complete enrollment materials including contract, registration, transportation reservation request forms, and payment instructions. Families will be expected to respond to an offer of admission with 30 days. Parents of students accepted after March 30 will be asked to respond within two weeks.
