Rutgers Prep operates on a rolling admission basis. Candidates should file applications early in the year in order to be given full consideration for the upcoming academic year. For candidates who have completed the admission process, admission decisions will be sent as early as mid-February.
Interview and Campus Visit
· Pre-Kindergarten, Junior and Kindergarten
Children participate in small group Gesell evaluations at scheduled times beginning in January of each year.
· 1st Grade
First grade applicants take part in an individual Gesell evaluation during the course of their morning visit in a Kindergarten classroom. These visits are scheduled in January of each year.
· 2nd through 5th Grade
IOWA Standardized testing is required and administered at Rutgers Prep. If the applicant has taken IOWA tests within the current academic year, these scores may be submitted to determine if further testing is necessary.
· 6th through 12th Grade
The Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) is required. Rutgers Prep administers this test seven times during the school year. The testing fee is submitted directly to SSAT. The SSAT booklet and registration materials are available through the Admission Office, by contacting SSAT directly at (609) 683-4440, or by visiting their website at www.ssat.org. For PK through Grade 4, one recommendation from the primary teacher is required. For Grades 5-12, we require recommendations from at least two teachers; one from a math teacher; the other from an English or history teacher. Teacher recommendation forms are enclosed with the application packet and you may contact the Admission Office to receive additional forms.
Transcript Request Form (enclosed with application packet)
A signed Transcript Request Form needs to be sent to your child's current school so that a complete transcript including grades and test scores may be released and sent directly to our Admission Office.
Once a student has been offered admission to Rutgers Prep, parents will be sent a formal acceptance letter, along with online enrollment materials including contract, registration, and payment instructions. Families will be expected to respond to an offer of admission within 30 days. Parents of students accepted after March 30 will be asked to respond within two weeks.
