2012 - 2013 SCHOOL STORE INFORMATION SHEET

Welcome to the new School Store located in the Dining Commons Building. I am so very happy to tell you about the new and exciting changes at the School Store. In addition to our much bigger space, our large selection of clothing is now on display for you to peruse and select. You can either self-serve your books and clothes if desired, or you can choose our personalized service. We have many new clothing manufacturers including Hurley (a division of Nike) and Lands End, as well as some of your favorites such as Charles River, Holloway, MV, Nike and Under Armour. The School Store is now open every day. Please check the schedule listed below for dates and times.  I look forward to seeing you whenever you can stop by.

Middle School: Enclosed you will find the Middle School 2012 Clothing and Supply Lists. We have not included a booklist as we are piloting a program that allows you to order your books online. Instead of filling out the form for your books as you have done in the past, simply use the form that can be accessed on the School Store page of the Rutgers Prep website: 

http://rutgersprep.wufoo.com/forms/ms-book-orders/ where you will find an electronic order form. Please check the boxes next to the items you would like to purchase and then click submit and the form will be emailed to the School Store. For your convenience, the School Store will pre-pack your book order as long as it is received by AUGUST 6.

To pre-order clothing please fill out and mail the attached order form with your desired purchases by AUGUST 6. Be sure to write on it your name, address, home phone number and the name of the student for whom you are ordering. If you would like to pre-order supplies for any of the grades, please mark “SUPPLIES-ALL” and the grade number on your order form and we will include them in with your order.

Upper School: Enclosed you will find the Upper School 2012 Book, Clothing and Supply Lists. We have every intention of offering an online system for the Upper School as well in the 2013-2014 school year. However given the complexity of the Upper School booklist and our commitment to providing the best service possible, we are limiting our pilot program to the Middle School. For your convenience, the School Store will pre-pack your order. To pre-order textbooks or clothing please fill out and mail the attached order form with your desired purchases by AUGUST 6. Be sure to write on it your name, address, home phone number and the name of the student for whom you are ordering. If you would like to pre-order supplies for any of the grades, please mark “SUPPLIES-ALL” and the grade number on your order form and we will include them in with your order.

Please note that the Upper School Book List includes books for full-year and first-semester courses only. Second-semester books are sold in January. Again this year, as shown on the Upper School Book List, we are offering the option of eBooks for certain courses which must be purchased directly from the publisher. For both ordering options, no pre-payment is required. You may come in to pay for and pick up your order on any of the dates and times listed above. In addition to cash and checks made payable to RUTGERS PREP, purchases over $15 can be made using MasterCard and Visa. Account deposits cannot be charged on credit cards. Textbook purchases are tax-exempt if you fill out and submit the enclosed form as indicated. If you are away and cannot make the August 6 deadline, just submit your order and we will do our best to fill it.

Some of the textbooks are available used and cost 1/3 less than the price listed. If you would like used books, please indicate so on your order form. During the last week of School, both new and used hard-cover books can be sold back in June (Grades 5-12) for another 1/3 refund of the purchased price, as long as we are using them again in the Fall and they are in resalable condition. Only books purchased at the Rutgers Prep School Store may be sold back.

Let me take this opportunity to welcome new parents and students and to introduce you to some of the services we offer. The School Store accepts account deposits into the student’s School Store account for the purpose of purchasing books, clothing, and supplies during the School year. Also, please be sure to list your home telephone number on your order form since we use it as your child’s account number which is easy for them to remember.

Please note that RPS gym clothing is recommended and available, but not mandatory. Acceptable dress code shirts are listed on the enclosed Clothing List. Also, locks must be purchased from the School Store by students in grades 5, 9, 10, and 11 (one lock) and in grades 6, 7, and 8 (two locks).

If you have any questions or special needs, please do not hesitate to call the School Store (Ext. 240). For those Lower School parents whose children do not have access to the School Store during the School year, you may send orders in with payment to your child’s teacher who will pass it on to me for immediate processing and classroom delivery.
