Library Services
The Library/Media Services department provides service and maintains a collection in accordance with the stated mission of the Rutgers Preparatory School. Every member of the community, faculty, students, staff and parents, has borrowing privileges.
The Silverman Library/Media Center staff of two professional librarians and two paraprofessionals serves the RPS community from 7:30 AM to 5 PM each school day.The Silverman Library/Technology Center’s collection comprises approximately 31,000 materials including books, audio and VHS cassettes, DVDs, interactive multimedia products, AV equipment, LCD projectors, laptop computers and Alpha-Smart keyboards. At present, the library subscribes to 96 periodicals and four daily newspapers. There are also Internet-based subscription services that enhance the collection i.e. EBSCO, ProQuest Newspapers Nine, SIRS Discoverer, Galenet Literature Resource Center, eBooks, Worldbook Online, Grolier online resources, Facts on File Reference Center, ABC-Clio History Database, and others. Students and faculty can access these databases at school and elsewhere from any computer with Internet access. The Library also has 515 audiobooks, many available in MP3 format.
