College Counseling Hosts Evening Program for Parents of Class of 2025
Each fall, as Rutgers Prep seniors are hard at work on their college lists, their activity lists, and their main Common Application essays, the College Counseling team at Rutgers Prep hosts an evening program designed especially for their parents and guardians. Because while the seniors are very much the drivers of their college process, parents of course are also a big part of the decision, and have questions of their own.
This year, in addition to having an opportunity to have their “nuts and bolts” questions about the process addressed by the members of the College Counseling team, parents were able to benefit from the wisdom and experience of visiting expert Alan Brown. As the founder of Learning to Thrive, Alan Brown has worked with countless schools and other organizations on topics related to resilience, mental health, and mindfulness.
During his time with Rutgers Prep parents of seniors this past Tuesday night he led parents through some experiential exercises and shared research-based frameworks that offered new stress-reducing perspectives on the college search and application process. We are pleased to have had the opportunity to support not just our graduating seniors, but the adults who care about them!
