"Senior Explorations" Week Offers Host of New Experiences to Class of 2024

RPS seniors embarked on their traditional week of Senior Explorations this past Monday, pushing themselves one more time to try out new experiences before they prepared for their end-of-year celebrations!

In Cooking at Little Fox Kitchen, our group of seniors took a week-long course at a culinary school, learning not only basic kitchen and knife skills. but also competing in a cooking competition and enjoying the fruits of their labor each day with a feast.

Backstage Magic – Entrepreneurship at Disney allowed our students to experience the Disney universe in a whole new way, taking behind-the-scenes tours and courses through the Disney Imagination Campus, focusing on leadership, theme park design, marketing, and teamwork.

The seniors on White Mountain Adventure hiked the beautiful Presidential Range of the White Mountains in New Hampshire and took an introductory course in rock-climbing while staying in the lodges and huts of the Appalachian Mountain Club.

The Sea-Air-Sea exploration gave seniors the opportunity to quite literally dive into all things Jersey Shore by taking a guided SUP tour of the Shark River and learning the basics of surfing at Hammer Surf School in Spring Lake. They then took flight with a day of indoor skydiving.

In the NJ Golf exploration, seniors teed off at a variety of courses throughout our home state, including country clubs, the Rutgers University golf course, and the USGA Museum course.

In our Glassblowing exploration, students traveled to the Banana Factory Arts and Education Center in Bethlehem, PA for an intensive course on both hot and warm glass modes of production through glassblowing and glass-fusing, taking home their own artwork at the end of the week.

Seniors who took part in The New York Experience explored the city’s iconic neighborhoods by foot from the Brooklyn Bridge to the Bronx Botanical Gardens. They visited art museums and then took a graffiti class in Brooklyn. They took in a performance of "Hamilton" and participated in a backstage workshop class.

In A Bewitching Adventure, our seniors learned about New England’s haunted history, using the darkened alleys of Salem as their home base, visiting sites such as Judge Corwin’s infamous Witch House, Pioneer Village, and Hawthorne’s House of the Seven Gables.
