Admission Welcome

Thank you for your interest in Rutgers Prep, New Jersey’s FIRST Independent School. At Rutgers Prep, our Lower School (3 year olds to Grade 5), Middle School (Grades 6 to 8) and Upper School (Grades 9 to 12) - share one campus, inspire, support, and challenge one another, and together, strive for excellence each day.
We welcome you to explore our website, campus, and community, to discover what makes a Rutgers Prep education inspired.

  • At home, our students speak more than 50 languages, from Amharic to Yoruba. On Campus, our students learn French, Latin, Japanese, Spanish and Arabic
  • This year our Middle School students traveled to England… Last year they journeyed to Costa Rica
  • In computer classes, our Lower School students are introduced to writing mobile code; our advanced software design students have created 2 mobile apps for the United Nations, and we were the first independent school to be awarded Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) status
  • This year, more than 100 colleges will visit our students on Campus to assist in the College Counseling process
  • Lower School students enjoy access to a wide range of technology opportunities, including Tabtor math, iPads, and our newly introduced STEAM classroom and curriculum
  • Middle School students attend music class (Band, Orchestra or Choir) EVERY day
  • Upper School students are required to complete 10 hours of community service each year, but in fact averaged 38 hours (14,087 hours total!) this year
  • While Seniors customarily enroll in AP courses, nearly half of Juniors are enrolled in 2 or more APs, and more than half of Sophomores enroll in at least one AP

We encourage you to contact our office to schedule a personal interview and tour, or to attend one of our Open Houses during the school year. Please call (732) 545-5600, ext. 261 or email
