Transportation

Students are transported to Rutgers Prep in a variety of ways and from many towns. Some of the ways our students commute are:

Parental drop off
Many parents choose to drive their children to school.

Licensed student drivers
Students who are old enough to do so may drive their own cars.

Parent carpooling
Rutgers Preparatory School welcomes families from at least five counties and scores of zip codes in New Jersey. We are happy to help make it easier getting to and from school by assisting parents in finding nearby families who are also interested in carpooling.

Community provided transportation
Somerset/Franklin Township is expected to continue to provide transportation for its residents directly to Rutgers Prep at no cost to families living there (state law requires that a child must be at least 5 years of age to take part in transportation provided by school districts).

Independently contracted transportation

Occasionally, parents will use a private company to transport their children from districts that do not bus to Rutgers Prep. Although the school is unable to make transportation arrangements directly with private companies, we will happily direct you to companies that could help.
