Team Philosophy
Rutgers Prep Baseball is about working hard, being accountable, playing the best competition, learning life skills, and having fun.
In 2013, Rutgers Prep baseball won the NJSIAA Non-Public B State Championship in the school's first season competing in the tournament and the NJSIAA Non-Public B South Sectional Championship. In 2014, 2023, and 2024 the team was a Non-Public B South Sectional finalist. The Argonauts are four-time NJISAA State Champions and have played in nine Prep “B” State Finals, won seven Patriot Conference Championships, two Skyland Conference Championships, and have appeared in Rutgers Prep’s only four Somerset County Semi-Finals and won the 2017 & 2023 Somerset County Tournament.

Many student athletes have continued their education and baseball careers in college at schools such as Georgetown, St. Johns, Drew, Bucknell, Lehigh, Rhode Island, St. John’s Fisher, Johns Hopkins, Kenyon, Elizabethtown, Muhlenberg, Moravian, Virginia, Central Connecticut State, Stevenson, UMBC, Widener, NJIT, San Francisco, Scranton, Lehigh, Messiah, Skidmore, Cabrini, WPI, Lynn, Ramapo and Dickinson.
Rutgers Prep baseball has been honored with numerous players receiving All-American, All-Prep, All-Prep “B”, All-Conference, All-USA Baseball, All-MaxPrep, All-New Jersey, All-Non-Public, All-MSG, All-Metro, and All-Area honors. Rutgers Prep is proud to have the 2011 and 2012 NJ.com Prep Player of the Year, the 2013 Somerset County Player of the Year, and in 2014 Rutgers Prep was the home to the NJ.com New Jersey High School Player of the Year.
Rutgers Prep offers a no-cut policy, which allows all students the opportunity to participate in the baseball program. Participating on an athletic team teaches great life skills and opens opportunities. Some of these opportunities involve the Rutgers Prep baseball team spring trip every year to train. The team has gone to Florida, Arizona, and Los Angeles in the past and has had amazing opportunities to play at minor league stadiums and numerous college stadiums.
