Golf

Team Philosophy

At Rutgers Prep, we embrace the great game of golf—a pursuit that can last a lifetime for our students. We begin by teaching proper etiquette and instilling the importance of being stewards of the game, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the golf course long after our group has graduated.

Golf, at its core, is a game of failure and chaos mitigation, making it an excellent training ground for the challenges our students will encounter beyond school. It also offers a unique personal challenge, as each day brings new conditions—both on the course and in our swing. It's a tremendously-enjoyable activity that fosters friendships and provides opportunities to explore new and exciting places.

Our instruction starts with the fundamentals: grip, aim, stance, and posture. Players then focus on mastering the short game, beginning with the basics of chip and pitch shots. From there, we work through the clubs in our bag, preparing students to play confidently on the course. We gradually introduce simulated rounds from 100 and 150 yards, teaching players how to approach the game from the tee.

As players progress, they receive advanced instruction in course management and are introduced to various competitive formats. Additionally, we incorporate analytics to enhance performance, offering even greater benefits to more experienced players.

In all, our golf program not only hones our students' skills on the course but also equips them with lifelong lessons in resilience, camaraderie, and personal growth, making it an experience they'll carry with them well beyond Rutgers Prep
