Tennis - Junior Varsity Girls
Girls Tennis at Rutgers Prep has enjoyed individual and team success over the last several seasons. Jessica Pill, class of 2017, exemplified the school’s core value of perseverance as she defeated a heated rival in the NJISAA State Championship in fall of 2016. In the fall of 2018, the Girls Tennis team won the Skyland Conference - Mountain Division Championship.
Coach Mitchell, Coach Miller, and Coach Hussian believe in teaching tennis from beginning strokes and court positions to advanced strategy and tactics. Despite being primarily an individual sport, the coaches are keenly aware of and actively encourage team-building. The relationships that are created through the tennis program permeate the players and students lives on and off the court.
Coach Mitchell has spent almost 20 years at Rutgers Prep, many of those years spent coaching middle school tennis, and he has been the head Varsity Girls Tennis coach for the last 4 years. Coach Miller has been around New Jersey tennis for the better part of 40 years, is approaching 1,000 career wins, and earned recognition this year from the NJSIAA for his contributions to the success of tennis in New Jersey.
