RPS Dance Concert Showcases Student Dancers Across Divisions

Students from across Rutgers Prep took the stage at the Brook Arts Center in Bound Brook for the 2026 RPS Dance Concert, the final arts concert of the school year.

Held on Thursday, May 14, the concert brought together performers from Lower, Middle, and Upper School, including the Lower School Dance Club, 6th Grade Creative Movement, Explorations in Dance, Intermediate Dance, Advanced Dance, and the 2026 Dance Company. The program included pieces choreographed by dance teacher Johsian Martinez-Gonzalez, along with work by guest choreographer Zoë Rose and student collaborators.

One highlight was a cross-departmental collaboration between the Upper School Chamber Orchestra and the Advanced Dance Class. The dancers performed choreography by Mr. Martinez-Gonzalez while the orchestra played live from the pit area led by Music Department Chair and Director of Orchestras Lyssandra Stephenson.

The evening also recognized the senior dancers and crew members in their final RPS Dance Concert. The program’s Senior Spotlight featured Debra Adetola ’26, Evija Domanski ’26, Mimansa Kumar ’26, Karina Ni ’26, and Nancy Zhao ’26. Senior performances included solos by Evija, Mimansa, Karina, and Nancy, along with Debra’s vocal performance of “Landslide.”

Behind the scenes, Zachary Evans ’26 served as one of the concert’s stage managers, along with Phoenix Custer ’28 and Victoria Gu ’27.

Congratulations to all of the dancers, musicians, choreographers, crew members, and faculty who helped make the concert possible.
