AP African American Studies Class Presents Visual Artifact Museum
Visit the library today, May 15, to experience a powerful visual museum curated by Dr. Rountree and her AP African American Studies class. During this yearlong project, her students have worked to create artifacts that provide insights into and celebrate Black history, from ancient Africa to Black Dandyism seen in fashion worn at this week’s Met Gala.
The exhibit is themed around Cyrus Cassells’ poem "Soul Make a Path Through Shouting," which is about Elizabeth Eckford and her 1957 journey to participate in high school in Little Rock, Arkansas. The six words in the poem's title resonated because they capture so much of the Black experience, even outside of desegregation efforts.
Make a point to stop by to see the pieces Dr. Rountree and her students created and the stories they tell.
