Calliope Brass Visits RPS for Fourth Annual Krish Kohli Music Series

Rutgers Prep welcomed Calliope Brass to campus in April as this part of the Krish Kohli Music Series, an annual program that brings accomplished musicians to RPS to work with students and perform for our community.

Over two days, the brass quintet worked with students from all three divisions, sharing insights about music, performance, and careers in the arts. Many students also had the opportunity to play alongside the group during their time on campus.

The visit concluded with an evening performance in the Choir Room of the RPS Music Building. Calliope Brass is known for interactive, story-driven concerts and creative arrangements that introduce audiences to a wide range of brass music. Its members are active freelance musicians in New York City who perform on Broadway, with major symphony orchestras, on television, and in mainstage productions.

The Krish Kohli Music Series honors Krish Kohli ’20, who made a lasting contribution to the Rutgers Prep Music Department. Krish played in Sax Ensemble, participated in Tri-M, taught younger students, and co-founded and co-directed Fusion Ensemble, a student-run group that created more opportunities for students from different ensembles to play together.
