Let's Hear It for Our Lower School Math Olympians!
This year, the Lower School hosted a Math Olympiad team for the first time led by 5th Grade teacher Mr. Lewis.
Math Olympiad is for our 4th, 5th, and 6th Grade students who enjoy challenging themselves in mathematics. It’s a national program that provides challenging and thought-provoking mathematical problems designed to strengthen students’ mathematical skills. Math Olympians meet throughout the school year for regular practice sessions and challenge tests.
Congratulations to all participants who gave it their best effort this year! Everyone gets something out of it!
We’d like to specially recognize and applaud fifth graders Zain S., Veer U., Bella W., and Bodhin S. along with fourth graders Naya J., Adoksha B., Livia A., and David Z. for earning the embroidered Math Olympiad patch. This award goes to students scoring in the top 50 percent to 11 percent of their division nationwide. An additional cheer for fifth graders Calvin L. and Viyaan A., who earned a silver pin by scoring in the top 10 percent to 3 percent nationwide. Fifth grader Calvin L. also had the honor of being RPS’s highest scorer.
We’re so proud of our Math Olympians! We hope they join again next year! And we hope this news update brings us more members for Math Olympiad in the fall!
Give it a try yourself. See if you can solve these elementary-level Math Olympiad problems at home. It’s perfectly okay to have your child help you!
