Newly-Elected School Council Members Sworn in at Inauguration

At today's Upper School Morning Meeting, the newly-elected members of the Rutgers Prep School Council were officially sworn in by the outgoing administration. Congratulations to President Ryan Lachs ’26, Vice President Jay Chavan ’26, Secretary Soham Patel ’27, and Treasurer Yunjin Choi ’28!

As he addressed the community for the first time in his new role, President Ryan Lachs reflected on the Latin phrase on the school seal: "Severa res est verum gaudium," meaning “Hard work is true joy.” He spoke about the challenges students face in balancing academics, extracurriculars, and everything in between—and how, even in the midst of that pressure, we can find joy. Ryan shared that his focus for the next year is to help the community also take joy in the act of service.

The ceremony included farewell remarks from outgoing council members, Julia Opong-Marfo ’25 and Gauri Balasubramanian ’25–who looked back on a year of accomplishments with pride and gratitude.

We're also grateful to the outgoing leaders of School Council for their dedication and look forward to all the new ideas and energy this incoming council will bring to RPS.
