RPS "Rises" to the Challenge on Record-Breaking Service Day
Today, the Rutgers Prep community came together for our annual Rise Against Hunger and Day On for Service initiatives. Thanks to the efforts of our students, faculty, and staff, we packed an astounding 55,080 meals in just two hours—a new record for the event!
The day kicked off with nearly 400 Upper School students working together with our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders to package over 48,050 meals. Our Middle Schoolers then stepped in, ringing the gong with pride as they finished the remaining 7,030 meals and then stayed to help clean up the Lower Gym.
At the same time, the youngest members of the RPS community were busy with their own service projects. Pre-Kindergarten students made cards for a local nursing home, and Junior Kindergarten made cards of their own for veterans. Meanwhile, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, and 2nd Grade enthusiastically wrapped hundreds and hundreds of utensils for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and Elijah’s Promise in Franklin.
Special thanks to our faculty and staff for their support, especially Mrs. Santowasso, whose tireless efforts make this day a highlight of every school year.
