Sales Executive Matt Berger Shares Career Advice with Sports Management Club

Last week, the Sports Management Club welcomed Matt Berger, a senior sales executive with more than 20 years of experience and a resume that includes Barstool Sports, Bleacher Report’s House of Highlights, and CollegeHumor.

Matt now leads sales at Ensemble, a company he co-founded with acclaimed actress, writer, and producer Issa Rae. Ensemble partners with diverse content creators and brands to produce media-driven campaigns and works to make the creator economy more inclusive. He shared real-world advice with our students about finding the intersection between what they love and what they're good at. Some of the main points of Matt's message were to build strong networks, listen more than you speak, and learn to be your own best salesperson.

Matt also spoke about his newest venture at Sei Less, a popular restaurant and event space in New York City that hosts celebrity events and brand collaborations. The project, launched with his longtime friend Dara Mirjahangiry, shows how relationships built in college can evolve into business partnerships.

After the presentation, students asked Matt questions about his career and how to take early steps toward their own future in the industry.
