Spanish Students Present on Their Favorite Places on Campus

Jennifer Aquino’s Spanish 2 students have been leading tours of their favorite places at Rutgers Prep—all in Spanish.

Each of her students chose a spot on campus they love and gave a short presentation to classmates about what they do there and why it matters to them. The group visited the Athletic Center, the Library, the new freshman lounge, the bench swing near Elm Farm Lawn, and a particular Middle School classroom, among other locations. The students then received feedback from their teacher and peers on both their presentation and their use of the language. They were evaluated on the clarity of their message, correct verb conjugation, subject-verb agreement, and the variety of vocabulary they used.

Each stop on the tour gave students a chance to build fluency and confidence by using Spanish in a real-world setting.
