RPS Spring Orchestra Concert "Rocks" the House
Our Spring Concert Series continued on Wednesday, April 24 with the Spring Orchestra Concert at Christ Episcopal Church in New Brunswick. The talented musicians in our Middle School, Upper School, and Chamber Orchestras rocked the house with works by renowned composers like Antonio Vivaldi, Ludwig van Beethoven, and, as your ears will attest, Ozzy Osbourne. Their cover of “Crazy Train” will have you rocking out, even if you’re not a connoisseur of the fine art of 80s heavy metal.
During the concert, Music Department Chair and Director of Orchestras Lyssandra Stephenson recognized two seniors with special awards for their outstanding contributions to the music at RPS. The National School Orchestra Award went to Carly Tomfohrde ’24, the top honor for high school orchestra musicians that recognizes excellence in playing and extraordinary contributions to the program. The Orchestra Director’s Award was presented to Chul Lee ’24, an honor given annually to the senior whose dedication to the musicianship of the orchestra goes above and beyond the call of duty.
In addition to Carly and Chul, Ms. Stephenson also took time to praise the other senior members of the orchestra, Jennifer Hua ’24, Lauren Lin ’24, and Sherry Wang ’24, for their dedication and contributions throughout their time in the orchestra at Rutgers Prep.
Congratulations to everyone involved in making the concert a resounding success! Please enjoy the gallery of photo and video highlights from the evening below.
