Upper School Art Students Explore Rare Works at Brooklyn Museum

For the Spring Art Trip, 45 intermediate-level students from across the Upper School’s visual arts disciplines visited the Brooklyn Museum—chosen this year in celebration of its 200th anniversary. The museum has marked the occasion by bringing rarely seen works out of storage, some for the first time in generations.

Timed tickets also gave students access to the special exhibition, Solid Gold, which traced the use of gold across cultures, time periods, and media—from Renaissance paintings to contemporary fashion.

Along with its renowned Egyptian collection and wide-ranging cultural exhibits, the Brooklyn Museum gave students a chance to connect their classroom learning to the art in one of the country’s oldest and most important museums, which just happens to be a short trip from the RPS campus.
