International Ivy Summer Programs

For: Ages 5 – 14

Summer is a great time to explore, meander, create and lose oneself in doing something fun. International Ivy creates classes based on what would love to learn like app creation, graphic design, robotics, performing arts, weird science and so much more. Classes are designed to be hands-on where kids learn by doing. There are plenty of choices across so many disciplines so kids can explore all that they are interested in. All of the sessions are weekly so parents can sign up for one or more weeks. Parents can also choose full day or half day options.

RPS iPhone Apps Creation Camp Grades

For: Students entering grades 6 – 12
Date: July 30 – August 3
Time: 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

Location: RPS Computer Lab

Cost: $430

Are you ready to make your very own iPhone app? This camp teaches the hottest trends in mobile computing using the iOS platform. You’ll be introduced to real-world application development using Xcode, Cocoa Touch and the Swift Programming. The best part is that no programming experience is necessary and all of the materials will be provided. This is engaging, exciting and inspiring! Lunch is included with enrollment. Drobots Drone STEM Camp: Drone Superhero Missions

For: students entering grades 3 – 5
Dates: July 9 – July 13
Time: 9am-3pm

Superhero Missions is specifically designed for both the novice and experienced drone enthusiasts. Our instructors will open the creative minds of participants as campers attack and defend against Superheroes and Villains. Students will begin the week learning basic maneuvers before using their “Spidey-Sense” to conquer missions such as: Batman’s Drone-Mobile Escape, The Breakout of Iron Man and more. Participants will storyboard their own escape missions while other students attempt to outsmart them using the drone to locate and capture. Drone safety and the social responsibilities of flying drones are included in this program. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer.

Drobots Drone STEM Camp: Drone Racing & Obstacle Course Challenge

For: students entering grades 6 -8
Dates: July 9 – July 13
Time: 9am-3pm

Location: RPS Campus

Cost: $425

Drone Racing is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports, Drone Racing. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Students first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and social responsibilities of flying are included in this program.

Lego Boost Robotics

For: Students entering grades 1-3

Are you ready to bring your Lego creations to life? Students will build Lego creations and program them to move using the Lego Boost system. No prior experience needed, but experience building Lego models from directions is helpful.

Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics

Are you ready to bring your Lego creations to life? Learn programming, advanced Lego construction, and problem solving using the Lego EV3 System in this camp. No prior experience needed, but experience building Lego models from directions is helpful.

Advanced Lego Mindstorms EV3 Robotics

For: Students entering grades 4 – 8
Dates: July 2-July 6 (no class July 4)
Time: 8:30 am – 2:30 pm

Cost: $295.00 (lunch included)

In this more advanced camp, students will build and program robots to carry out challenges based on the 2016 First Lego League challenge (Animal Allies). This camp requires previous experience with the Lego Mindstorms system.

Full S.T.E.A.M. Ahead with Tech Week at RPS

For: students entering grades 3-6
Dates: June 18- June 22 (9am-noon)
and/or
July 2- July 6 (No class July 4) (9am - 12:45pm)

Location: RPS Makerspace Classroom

Cost: $200 per week

Want to explore technology and have some fun? During the week we will explore coding with Littlebits, Dash and Dot robots and other STEAM related tools that are aimed at getting kids to use their creativity and expose them to technology. This is a great class for beginners and experienced techs as well. Bring a snack and a drink.

RPS APP-venture Camp

For: students entering grades 5-8

Want to learn how to build apps but don’t know how to code? Let our very own STEAM award winner, Mrs. Conroy, take you on an app-venture! Kids will have the chance to build informational and interactive apps without having to know how to code. Their apps will be accessible via private methods that can be shared on mobile devices and computers. Publication to App Stores is not included. Kids should bring their curiosity, creativity, fun and a snack! Class size is limited so enroll soon.

Handwork Day Camp with The Handwork Studio

Picture your child in the care of energetic and imaginative counselors exploring the world of needle-arts. At Handwork Day Camp, you’ll find campers sharing stories and laughs while working on a wide array of unique projects. Our goal is to teach useful skills such as hand-sewing, embroidery, knitting, weaving, needle-felting and much more! Campers are always free to express themselves and are enveloped in creativity and fun. Whether refining skills or learning brand new ones, our camp is sure to delight. This summer USA Chess is offering our exciting and entertaining chess camp at more

than 100 locations nationwide. USA Chess is the largest premier chess camp organizer

for children in the United States. The staff is comprised of the finest children’s chess

instructors in North America. Registration options include mornings, afternoons and

all-day sessions. Campers experience chess instruction and play in a fun-filled

Modding, Networking and Hosting with Minecraft

Minecraft is hugely popular because it is collaborative, open-ended and

moddable. Our program promotes those qualities for a week of fun! The week begins with learning the game, controls, recipes and a bit about hosting & networking. Next, campers are connecting to different worlds hosted on our secure server and experimenting with character skins, mods and custom maps.

By day three, the kids are building in the Active Learning World that grows over time. Whether adding a room, building a moat or even creating a chessboard the possibilities are nearly limitless

As with all of our game creation options, this camp encourages creativity, storytelling, programming and problem solving for their young minds.

This is a half-day program. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp.

Video Game Creation – Platform Style – In the Style of Sonic & Mario

Introductory to Intermediate-

In this camp children build a game described as a "platform" game like Sonic or Mario. Children have a blast as their characters overcome obstacles and opponents and then conquer the Big Boss. The character progresses on a long path/journey with the background scrolling behind it as adversaries, prizes and obstacles are encountered along the way. Lessons on the basics will be similar to the Arcade course in the very beginning, but the class diverges and different programming techniques are taught in order to build this Platform game. As with all of our game creation options, this camp encourages creativity, storytelling, programming and problem solving for their young minds.

This is a half-day program. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp.

Kodu Video Game Creation – Adventure Style

Introductory to Intermediate-

Children will have the option of learning how to program using a Microsoft Xbox controller! Students will create their own custom world and navigate through it. Within this world they will create tasks that need to be completed in order to progress to the next level. Some of those tasks include escaping a sewer maze, outwitting rivals, creating decoys and collecting bonus items. As with all of our game creation options, this camp encourages creativity, storytelling, programming and problem solving for their young minds.

This is a half-day camp. Xbox controller is optional and must be supplied by the student. Students can add an additional program to make it a full day camp.
